AHNI KRUGER Bio
Ahni Kruger was born in New Haven, CT in 1960.  She obtained a B.F.A. at Cornell University, College of Art & Architecture, Ithaca, NY.  Upon graduation, she lived in Lacoste, France, for a year, working for the Cleveland Institute of Art Program as a Printmaking Assistant.  She spent the rest of the 80’s in New York City. A trip to Nepal in 1988 resulted in a spiritual awakening of sorts – she left the city for New Jersey to pursue a quieter lifestyle.

In 1992, she married, spent a summer learning plate lithography at Tamarind Institute in New Mexico, and joined the Board of the Printmaking Council of New Jersey.  She received an NJSCA Fellowship for Printmaking in 1994. Soon followed grants from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the Vermont Studio Center.   At about this time she resumed plein air painting, developing a practice in the landscape that she maintains.  This discipline of observing and recording nature in situ continues to inform all of her studio work to date.  Ahni exhibited at Prince Street Gallery in NYC from 1995-2003.

Since 1999, Ahni has been an Adjunct Lecturer of Art at Drew University, Madison, NJ, teaching printmaking, drawing and 2-D design.  She received an M.F.A. in studio art from Montclair University in 2007, where she was recognized with an award for excellence in painting.  She has taught painting at Montclair for the last two spring semesters.

Her work is in many private and corporate collections, including Johnson & Johnson, Schlumberger, Skandia, and Alliance Capital. In 2007, her work was exhibited at the Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts in Long Branch, NJ; Prince Street Gallery in NYC; White Box Annex in NYC; the MFA Exhibition at Hunter College, NYC, and at P.P.O.W. gallery in NYC.  She is represented by Riverbank Arts in Stockton, NJ, Speak Easy Gallery in Boonton, NJ, and can be found at Riverside Studios in Pottersville.  Her most recent solo shows were at the Korn Gallery, Drew University, in February of 2009, and a summer exhibition at Princeton University.
