AHNI KRUGER Statement
I play with space and time to evoke the palpable, plastic quality of memory.  Flat pattern collides with illusionistic 3-D forms to suggest a sense of disruption or shift in consciousness.  There is a give and take between abstracted nature in designs borrowed from fossils or medieval tapestries and more organic, representational components.  Loose brushstrokes collide with precisely focused intervals of structured color and accentuate the point of contact between distinctly different approaches to the medium.  I often use armor that has been elaborately created by both man and nature as a metaphor for how the mind works, and engage many levels of allegorical narrative.
